BEACH SPORT FUN DAY HEADING TO TO ST ANNES!

Fylde residents invited to enjoy a fun day of sport and entertainment

An action-packed day of sport, music and entertainment is heading to St Annes Beach next month - and it’s free to all Fylde residents!

Fylde Borough Council have teamed up with leading event company Global 13 to host a full day of activity on Saturday 18th September, featuring several beach sports - including rugby, football and netball - plus an amazing BMX Stunt Show. There will also be a fairground, live music, and the chance to join in cheerleading and dance workshops.

The day is being staged as a pre-cursor to the Global Beach Sports event in St Annes on the weekend of March 25th to 27th 2022, and is aimed at bringing local sports clubs and community groups together to get involved in an array of new activities.

Event organiser Jason Harborow explained: “We have developed a unique series of beach sports events, and were due to stage a major international competition on St Annes Beach this summer, but unfortunately the pandemic has forced that to be postponed to next year. But in its place we are holding a one-off day of games on the beach, and we invite everyone to come along and try out various sports.

“We are encouraging people to come along and enter a team into the event, whether it be friends, workmates or local sports clubs. It’s easy to enter via our website

“There will also be plenty of action for spectators, including the famous Extreme BMX Bike Stunt show featuring 5-time European BMX Champion Danny Butler. We also invite dance and fitness groups to come and join in our cheerleading class, which will include free tuition culminating in a grand finale dance show."

The event is reaching out to all sports clubs, community groups and individuals to enter a team into the various beach sports, and to locals and visitors alike to come down to the beach and join in.

The day begins at 10:00 adjacent to St Annes Pier. Anyone wanting to enter a team should register in advance. Further information, and details of how to get involved, can be found at www.globalbeachsports.com
